October is the month of introspection and retrospection, of taking stock.
The leaves are falling. The light is fading. Death is a reminder that this life is limited and precious. Are you using it well? Are you happy? Have you the means to develop a heart of loving Kindness? We will consider several moral conundrums together this month, when it’s easy to see who wears the white hat and who wears the black hat. We will think deeply about our values, our relationships, our motivation and our mind habits. We will take responsibility for living our lives with awareness and love.
Listen to the voices of the Ancient Ones,
As they blow the wind,
That whistles through the naked branches.
In the fading light of fall,
we begin the annual journey
to the underworld.
The Medicine Wheel is fully open
to the Western Gate.
Realizing that our time on earth
We make our death our ally and teacher,
bringing us face to face with
the results of our choices
and kindling the intention
to make loving kindness
our primary virtue.
This month’s newsletter will focus on Astrology, the reason for waiting to post on October 1st, was the need to access the situation and also deal with my own individual changes. The video above by Doreen Virtue asks you to be in touch with your higher self. The changing of signs of 4 planets and life altering Saturn will bring into focus changes that are occurring both on the global front and within us.
This the true meaning of October, a time to ask ourselves how we plan to proceed. To let go of the old, to die and begin again…A New Birth. This first week of October has been a monumental time for adjusting to what is coming over the next 3 years. Saturn will actually move into a new house position on October 10th. This week is the time to ask the big questions and what you are willing to do, to get your life to match up with who you really are and where you would like to be in 3 years.

The questions begin with, What do You Value? Once you are clear on, What You Are Worth, Ask Yourself, What are willing to do to get there? Do You Need to Move, change your attitude from negative to positive, do you need to change your job? These are tough questions and tough answers; it’s time to be totally honest with you.
I am posting several articles I posted during the beginning of October, so you can find out where your life is changing and areas of growth that are important. Please read your Sun Sign, Rising Sign and Moon Sign. I had to take some time to read through what many astrologers are talking about. The problem is, when I get to a site, I am required to sign up or pay for information. So I have taken the best of what I could find to share with you. Some links are provided and the rest here with my own commentary. I found the House and signs at the bottom of the page most helpful. While watching the video for my sign, I cried, because I knew it to be so true. As Saturn moved October 6th, I felt the somber energy. I could hear myself and the negative backtalk. We all do it. It’s time to take control of our thoughts and how we perceive and project ourselves to the outer world. We all want success…..in some area of our life, whatever it is to each of us. I will continue to post during the month for weekly updates as I usually do. Be aware that November 13th with be a Solar Eclipse and a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on October 29th, this energy can begin up to 4 weeks in advance.
Saturn can teach us a lot if we are willing to do the work, if this is your first Saturn return, at age 28 -30 , you may not know how to manage this energy. For some of us this is our second return age 58 – 60 and this would be time a good time to look back. My views on living life backwards…looking to the past so we can move forward.
~ Looking Backwards ~
Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards
I have always felt a bit like Wendy in Peter Pan and Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, I believe in magic, think happy thoughts and you can fly, the wicked witch and a mean pirate. Tornadoes, ruby slippers, Glenda the Good Witch and all you have to do is click your heels three times while whispering, I want to go home. Peter crowing “I don’t want to grow up” and being a mother to a brood of lost boys, while wondering what happen to my own prince charming. Tin Man, Lion and Scarecrow, all I need is a heart, courage and a brain to get by in the world, when what I really wanted was Nana, the old sheep dog to protect me and the Darlings to be my parents. Falling asleep in a poppy field, while I am on my way to Never Never Land, only to find out that the Emerald City and the Wizard are fakes, and quick rich schemes don’t work out.
Life is confusing and it’s hard to read the signs…..you lose your way, take detours, which way do I go? There is a sign post, but it’s pointing is 4 directions. Maybe I should have used another Fairy Tale and followed the bread crumbs back to the beginning, like Hansel and Gretel. I can hear the words, in a song; somewhere over the Rainbow, bluebirds fly, and way up high, in the sky, everything turns out perfectly and no one dies.
Back to the beginning, that’s where I am today. Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. After 60 years of life, I can now go back and look at the pattern, what I have lived, learned, where I made mistakes, what I learned from them, so perhaps we all can learn, to see life as a continuous cycle. I have been haunted by a past life, secrets, mysteries, betrayals, love gone bad, abandoned, and dumped. Somehow I have remained childlike in the way I live my life, still believing in magic, trusting a higher power, angels, heavenly bliss in nature, wearing rose colored glasses and very grateful for every breath I take and the unique gifts bestowed upon me. I believe we are special and when you start believing you are and push through to the other side, put your hand through the veil of illusion; you realize you can manifest whatever you desire. We are creators, I created this life and this is my story.
Take your time this week to move your life in the right direction and Stay Tuned for more to come.

There is quite a bit of information available about this major transit. You will need to scroll down to find your house placement and link for your sign. There is also a video for each sign. The more you know about what to expect, the better off you will be in directing your life and handling the lessons Saturn has for you over the next 3 years. Saturn will be in direct motion thorough much of 2012 -2014, with a brief retrograde from June to September 2015…….
By Molly Hall,
Saturn is in Scorpio starting October 5th, 2012 and this lasts for two and a half years. Find the house with Scorpio on the cusp (for some, it begins within the house). Free associate Saturn, Scorpio and the house for possibilities. Here’s a sampler to get things started.
Saturn Scorpio in the First House: (House of Aries and Mars) Saturn first crosses your Ascendant in Scorpio, and this is known to add a cloak of depression or seriousness. And yet, take heart — the end game is to transform your sense of self. It’s about breaking apart what’s calcified around your free expression and ability to grow. Saturn makes it clear what’s energetically dead, and as you persevere, you find a more verdant, animated foundation.
Saturn reins in your focus to a preoccupation with the self. It’s time experience life as a singular, concentrated force, not one diluted or co-dependent. Some experience with this a loss of those they’ve been emotionally merged with. Saturn is reshaping things, to make room for the experience of independence. It’s about setting up a life structure, that supports the impulses of the authentic self.
Catching sight of your wrinkles and flab in a grossly over lit dressing room. A health crisis that forces you to look at how you resist or flow with change. Losing a job that gave you a role to play — one that you’ve outgrown. Leading to the first inklings of a self-sourced career. A sense of integrity and a seasoned style. A new and improved atmosphere of the self that’s energized, inspired and that trusts the process of metamorphosis.
Saturn Scorpio in the Second House: (House of Taurus and Venus) In the first house, your self-image was updated, to match who you’re becoming now. With Saturn in the second, you take a hard look at your value and what you’re investing in. Are your trappings — home, budgetary responsibilities, other possessions — in synch with this emerging self? Are you seeing a return for your presence and natural talents?
Saturn here is known to bring malaise to money and how it flows. Since Saturn is in Scorpio, you’re well-positioned to uncover universal laws about money. It means getting to core beliefs about abundance, and your worthiness. You may walk through the shadow side, to claim more potency here. If there’s a personal financial crisis, with doors blocked and few allies to help, this leads you to total transformation. One possibility is shifting into work that reflects your values. Another is investing in your natural talents, gaining skills or knowledge. Saturn’s gift is greater productivity, that’s also more satisfying.
Saturn Scorpio in the Third House: (House of Gemini and Mercury) After Saturn’s upgrade of the self (first) and taking stock (second), it’s time to engage in the social and intellectual scenes. Your tolerance for “playing nice” is at a nadir, and this can cause a temporary retreat. You find the old haunts with their regulars stultifying, and may feel socially isolated. You could find school friends, colleagues acquaintances or siblings are low on understanding. The cracks form and hint at another way of engaging.
Later in this transit, the openings lead to new friendships and momentum with what you’re learning in ‘earth school.’ You find a way to express the ineffable — you seek mediums to share your eye for magic in everyday life.
Saturn in the third is where you get your groove back. This happens through the mix of minds or as an eternal student. You establish your real life (or online) presence as an authority, creating media (being an intermediary for translating the world).
Saturn Scorpio in the Fourth House: (House of Cancer and the Moon) Now there’s a strong drive to establish a home base. Here you get to the emotional and psychic underpinnings more concrete in some way. This comes about sometimes through loss that takes away the usual familiar (and comforting) edges. It could be a bad break up, where your childhood bundle of behaviors ruined a good thing. For some, it’s the loss of a matriarch figure, or an intensified need of parents.
There’s sorting through emotional detritus, to come out from under what’s hindering growth. You find a way to remake home, which is especially important if you came out of toxic origins. You sift out what your real needs are vs. ones that came from childhood conditions. Now is the time for profound inner growth. You gain a sense of emotional sovereignty, and freedom to build your home from the ground up. You might buy or sell, move down the block or to another town. The main gift is being able to be at home in your own skin, wherever you go.
Saturn Scorpio in the Fifth House: (House of Leo and the Sun) The desire here is to be known and loved to the depths of the soul. But first there can be a sense of deadness, and lack of enthusiasm for what used to give pleasure. If you’re heart’s not in what you’re doing, it starts to feel intolerable. Take heart — this augurs a path unfolding to deeper joy.
Now is the time to break out of routine, to find authentic enthusiasm. Until you find that sweet spot or spots, it feels like you’ve hit doldrums of unhappiness. This is for taking what gives you pleasure seriously. You overcome stagnation and find what’s unique to your story and draw it out in some way. Through dedication, you could formalize a hobby or creative skill.
What’s meaningful is finding form for your self-expression. Children are an expression of who you are, and Saturn here is known to touch this area. You might get serious about having them, or experience a loss. There can be heavy responsibilities related to child-rearing.
Saturn Scorpio in the Sixth House: (House of Virgo and Mercury or Chiron) This is the transit for running a tighter day-to-day ship. You’re getting relentless reminders of what’s needing attention. A limit of hours in the day puts pressure on you to weigh priorities. It becomes clear what time-stealers must go, and what habits are a complete waste. Now is a time to consider work shake-ups, for a day that’s more nourishing or wholesome.
Are you ill at ease? A health scare or awareness of your own mortal limits motivates you to make adjustments. You might get serious about yoga or some other healthful practice. Saturn here helps you prepare for the next phase, of refining your way of being with others. A gift from the 6th is being your own healer, which with Scorpio, has a shamanic dimension. You can master sensing what’s needed, to move and transform energies, to avoid dis-ease and distractions.
Saturn Scorpio in the Seventh House: (House of Libra and Venus) This heralds the death knell for relationships that are an awkward fit. During this transit a few years ago, two people I’d say were friends gently ended things. It felt like hitting a wall, but I also realized I didn’t have to strain (in one case) to bridge our very different energies. If something ends, have faith that it’s Saturn’s way of freeing you for something better.
There could be serious stress on the marriage or live-in relationships. If there are festering underlying issues, now is the time to address them. If there’s no trust structure to do that, it’s time to part ways. In Scorpio, the demands of the relationship house are nothing short of soul merging to create something new. This involves the dying process, the death of what we might call the ego — to let go of who we are, for what we can become. A gift of Saturn here is the instinct to deal with core issues together, or make a clean break. Either way, we have the chance to get real with those closest to us.
Saturn Scorpio in the Eighth House: (House of Scorpio and Pluto) After cleaning up relationships in the Seventh, now we seek steady ground in a world where there are many pulls to the psyche. We deal head-on with issues of authority and authority figures. At the outset, there can be demands from ownership, taxes, or an inheritance. There could be financial entanglements with others that at first feel unsolvable.
Saturn is in Scorpio’s own house here, the eighth, of sex, death and dying to the old, so something new can emerge. This promises to be big and open a path to greater empowerment. A way through, though, means acknowledging any vice grip power and /or money situations that have a psychic hold. It’s worth looking here at the energetic contracts made with money. What subtle unspoken agreements are made, in exchange for money?
Saturn Scorpio in the Ninth House: (House of Sagittarius and Jupiter) It’s curious to find Saturn, the contractor, in the 9th House, ruled by Jupiter, the expander. Now is the time to connect personal momentum with a sense of purpose. If you travel, it’ll be empty, unless it ties in with your long range vision. If you’re in school, it’ll feel pointless, until you align it with your inspired future.
This brings a chance to widen your worldview, to make room for what’s ahead. The next houses are about making your mark, and being a public presence. If your world has become too small, you grow discontent and restless. You might break out by embarking on a voyage of learning, whether formally or self-directed.
Saturn Scorpio in the Tenth House: (House of Capricorn and Saturn) From Saturn’s natural journey through the houses, you’ve gained self-awareness and a sense of purpose. You might face a steep learning curve now. But Saturn is at home in the 10th, and Scorpio is a do or die sign. You’re ready to overcome inner and outer resistance, and climb those mountains.
If doors are closing, pay attention. Saturn likes to block exits, to get you curious about other possibilities. Is it time to act on the momentum of the Ninth House, and establish yourself in a chosen field? Or perhaps it’s about wearing a mantle of authority? A gift of this house is becoming established and reaching a personal pinnacle — as a healer, educator, parent, writer or whatever role you inhabit.
Saturn Scorpio in the Eleventh House: (House of Aquarius and Uranus) If Saturn moving across the Tenth house brought a sense of accomplishment, we’re better able to enter this stage of collaboration. What kinds of allies are in synch, with who we are now?
At the beginning of this transit, it becomes obvious that we’re hanging with the wrong crowd. It’s time to bring associations to a close, and that can be hard, though we know it’s time. The reason why we were tied in with certain people has expired and we’re running on fumes. We could feel flat and uninspired. This is a sign to move in new circles.
Saturn Scorpio in the Twelfth House: (House of Pisces and Neptune) This is a wrap up transit, to prepare you for a whole new Saturn cycle. You’re no stranger to mysteries, with a Scorpio Twelfth House. This might be a dark night transit, but it could also be the most creative time of your life. Here Saturn puts the squeeze on, to forgive, and experience release from soul entanglements. These endings have grace, with the teaching that the great form is oceanic, so even in death, we’re still part of one field.
You experience miracles, as you see with this kind of mystical clarity. You might take up formal study of metaphysics, and hone your skills as a medium or diviner. Now is the time to transform universal and soulful impressions — to make art out of them or share them with your intimates. This is a transit for feeling connected to all of life, but especially those you love, even those on the other side.

On October 5, 2012, Saturn will enter the sign of Scorpio for a long-term stay for the better part of the next three years. Saturn only makes a rare visit to each sign once every 28 and a half years, usually marking a phase with a specific characteristic that stands out in our mind.
We learn our most important lessons where Saturn resides. On a soul level, we know it is where our greatest learning is. We will pursue and attract experiences in line with the new sector of our sky Saturn has moved to. We sense, on a deep and sometimes unconscious level, that we must give a new, specific area of life our attention as a way to demonstrate qualities that increase our sense of self-respect. Where Saturn goes, we are asked to be starkly honest with ourselves and admit the reality of the situation, along with understanding what we can do to change it and where we need to practice greater patience, acceptance, or both.
Saturn will be in what is termed “mutual reception” with Pluto. When two signs are hosting each others’ ruling planet, they tend to have an affinity, and work together in greater harmony, helping the best of each sign to come forward. Both planets are stronger when in this harmonious position. Saturn and Pluto already have an easy relationship, based on their characteristics. This placement gives both an extra boost. All of us will feel this connection, but it will be especially prominent for those among the signs represented, in this case, Scorpios and Capricorns.
On the infamous Winter Solstice of 2012, Saturn and Pluto will reach exact precision in their conversation, with a supremely harmonious connection. The planets will continue to dance closely for the better part of the following year, suggesting a strong start to this cycle. There are always times when change seems daunting, especially when Saturn is involved. At this time, and especially on this day, each of us, collectively and individually, will receive our own keys to impressive change, along with the enthusiasm and belief to make it realized. With so much mythological and emotional build up to this historical day, this celestial conversation lends itself nicely for putting past patterns behind us and moving towards a future that feels empowering, with a greater sense of self.
The only times Saturn gets us into trouble is when we don’t listen, resist the lessons, or continue to insist along a path that isn’t in line with a more loving vision of our life. Where Saturn goes, it can feel as if that area of life and the people associated with it have a will of their own. It is at this time that Saturn’s most important lesson comes forward, “Do your best, and surrender the rest.”
The sign Saturn moves into is a place where we, culturally, might contemplate changes but are inclined to stick with tradition. It’s as if there is a “holding on” to the traditional values in that sign, a need to stick with protocol, and follow the established norm.
With Saturn in Libra, we saw plenty of talk around Gay Marriage, but some societies, including that in the USA, might have wished progress was more swift. We should see a shift in that nation’s conversation around marriage equality. Saturn in Libra asked us to have the discussion and get honest with ourselves on the definition of marriage. Now, as Saturn moves on, tensions should ease, and progress for LGBT communities around the world will hit a smoother trajectory.
Scorpio is the sign of merging and sharing assets, whether that’s among people getting married or corporations. Scorpio is taxes as well, and with Saturn in Scorpio, a large part of the international conversation will revolve around taxes; how much to pay, who should pay it, where is it fair, and where is it an obligation. Saturn in Scorpio tends to bring a more conservative approach to taxes, with governments choosing cuts.
Scorpio also rules sex, and involves the sharing physical intimacy requires. With Pluto in Scorpio in the 1980s and 90s, the world saw the dawn of AIDS, as we considered the dark side of sex. Exploring the dark side is one thing Pluto loves to do. Now, with Pluto in the sign of the Corporation working harmoniously with Saturn, I predict corporations will launch new procedures and treatments for those with HIV/AIDS, with a strong likelihood of a vaccine. It is highly possible that the treatments will be priced at an exuberant cost. Pluto in Capricorn is showing us the dark side of business, and with Saturn in harmony, will only further support the structure. We should also see new STDs, more resilient to resolution. Scorpio also rules boils, abscesses, ruptures, and other blistering symptoms, a likely characteristic of the diseases that get the most attention.
Organizations that work to promote safer sex practices should see their cause enter the international dialogue, which will eventually lead to greater visibility. With Pluto in Capricorn in mutual reception to Saturn, structural and corporate support will be a matter of debate, before it eventually becomes accepted. In the beginning of this transit, we can expect the proliferation and promotion of “abstinence based” education, before other practical efforts at preventing STD’s are widely discussed and eventually integrated. Saturn in Scorpio asks that we confront our judgments, expectations, and conventions on areas of sex and intimacy. To do so requires looking at the entire spectrum of belief and expression, at every stage of the process.
Sharing money, as a form of assets, is covered under Scorpio, as the sign oversees banks and loaning institutions, as well as granting bodies. We can expect a debate on regulation, with the larger, corporate banks taking on a form of regulation that is agreed on by the industry as well as governments. We should see the true societal and political power that banks hold, with a widespread belief that it is better to take action to protect and affirm these companies than to see the larger consequences of their failure. With Uranus in a tough conversation with Pluto during this time, chances are, the masses, and particularly the more rebellious among them won’t like these arrangements and will let their discontent be known. Uranus is a planet that rules the masses and rebellion. We are already seeing this discontent play out in the Arab Spring, European Summer, and American Autumn movements around the globe. Uranus will be in a Quincunx aspect, a conversation noted for having to reconcile and find a way to make these seemingly disconnected energies get along, suggesting that people will be able to see the pros and cons quite clearly.
We can also expect large corporations to launch granting opportunities, for new businesses and for students, criticized for being wrought with strings and agenda driven biases. More neutral institutions that rely on grants will increasingly have to go to private companies to meet their fundraising goals. Advertising and content control may need to be relinquished to receive those funds.
Finally, Scorpio rules psychotherapy and psychological regeneration. We should see institutions that provide accreditation to practitioners in the field, as well as study programs and requirements, become much more stringent and specific. Methodologies will be purported based on the traditional and the established. “Tough love” and “father knows best” approaches to psychological therapies and self-help books will become the latest trend in personal knowledge, self-discovery, and well-being.

Down and Dirty
Saturn has been in Libra (since 2010), the sign known as the iron fist in the velvet glove. Libra is an air sign, and much of its territory is mental — concepts and ideals. Libra is a provocative (at times) cardinal sign, but always has a certain poise. With Libra, there’s objectivity that provides some psychic space from whatever is going on.
But now Saturn takes us now into Scorpionic realms, where it’s not possible to stay above it all, with situations “in theory.” Scorpio is the planet of the underworld journey, metamorphosis, soul merging, being haunted, traumas and emotional wounds. These next two years, Saturn has lessons in different packages, with a core theme of transforming what’s toxic, and undergoing the changes that the soul is crying out for.
This transit of Saturn Scorpio comes at a time when many are transforming in extreme ways. So much is rising from the depths — secrets, sober realities, woundedness, patterns of abuse, sexual confusion and blurry boundaries. This is a transit to drive out emotional-psychic vampires, and unplug from all that’s feeding on your energy.
If you’re carrying dead bodies (the past) around, Saturn Scorpio is going to show you how to wield the scythe. We gain access to the deeper realities of energy exchange with those closest to us. This evokes primal scenes, where we unlock the power to move through whatever has a hold on psyche and soul. It’s relating realities that show up in the dream time, or that strange pull toward someone (even if they’re not good for you). Saturn peels back layers, and blocks the easy exits — we’re now seeing how deeply embedded we are in each others lives.
Addiction and Despair
Saturn shows us — sometimes in stark ways — where our coping mechanisms are keeping us in a holding pattern. Whatever has been working, starts to not work. Oh no! And yet, that’s the start of coming up with new approaches to old problems. Depending on how Saturn engages your chart, this is time to finally face anything you’re running from. And to be wholly transformed by the experience.
Saturn Scorpio is here now to give us master methods for taking what’s rotten, and composting it into fertile ground for the next steps. If you’ve been through a dark night, Saturn as planet of authority, can press you into service. You wear the mantle of healer, assisting souls through the murky perceptual field of our times.
Saturn Scorpio brings the potential for hitting bottom — the darkest place, and yet, this is where a strong foundation can be built. You’re supported in going deep, sharing what’s in your heart and soul with trusted supporters, joining healing groups, being committed to going all the way.
What’s festering and making you sick? This is no time for band-aids. We’re now in Saturn’s intensive care unit, for near death experiences that revive the sense of wanting to live. New vitality is kindled, for the dramatic times. There’s real hope, when we face the core issues, and know there’s nothing we can’t handle.
Saturn Scorpio begins the era of discovering new ways to deal with intense events, manipulations, corruption, and the quest to live truthfully. Scorpio is a sign of emotional bravery, with an instinct for digging into the meat of the matter.
Whatever half-truths or outright lies have been robbing us personally or society of authenticity, can be broken apart now. We learn how to take even the most dangerous, life-threatening material and transform it.
This is the kind of Saturn transit where things could seem to get worse, before they get better. And yet, you realize you’ve surrendered to a process of deep change. Saturn often shows us we’re stronger than we think we are. With Saturn in Scorpio, the strength we find brings personal power and the courage to set boundaries.
Is this your Saturn return? This is a life transit that saves us from structures that have become stifling confinements. What’s calcified is broken open. Oh yes, this can be painful. But it cracks us open, so we can reshape the fundamentals. And become aligned with our destiny.
Be alert to news of crackdowns in areas ruled by Saturn. We’ll see overhauls in areas of debt, taxation and how we die (the business of dying). More will let go of wishful thinking, and be forced to face denial, as the deeper intensity is squeezed to the surface.
This is just one angle for this transit. Stay tuned for more!
